When a rail stops feeling solid
A handrail is the part of a staircase your hand trusts without thinking, so a wobble in it gets noticed fast. The usual causes are a loose post, a cap that has pulled away from the rail, or balusters that have worked free of the wood. Which one it is decides what gets replaced, and that is the first thing to sort out when you talk with Marlon.
Wide gaps are the other complaint. Spindles set far apart, or an open run beside a landing, leave a stair that feels unfinished. Replacing the handrail, balusters and newel post together gives the whole run one line, which is what Richard Chapman had done on his stairs. Text a photo to (469) 727-3208 and tell Marlon what you see.
